Los Gatos Realtor Never Sleeps

Mary Pope-Handy puts Los Gatos lifestyle on the web

Efficacious, ultra-accomplished Realtor Mary Pope-Handy shares her knowledge of Los Gatos and real estate with a worldwide audience on 5 targeted web sites and 2 blogs--unless we miscounted, or she has started another one in the meantime. A self-described "education junkie," the Los Gatan has made an enormous amount of useful, timely information about our town and its real estate available on the web--and she is constantly maintaining and updating her trove.

"I'm committed to staying on top of everything that affects you [whether you're] buying or selling," Mary Pope-Handy says in her online video introduction. She tracks various statistics and provides year-over-year and month-over-month comparisons. Her site also has a simple indicator showing that prices are currently steady, but we're in a somewhat buyer's market.

Valley of Heart's Delight .com is Mary's main Realtor site that describes her philosophy and the range of her practice. Like other realty sites, you can view listings and testimonials, but there are also links to a wealth of other information and other web sites and a video welcome from Mary herself. Exploring the web, it is not hard to conclude that Mary is the most web-savvy realtor to date.

Live in Los Gatos.com is Mary's blog. Today's entry is a fascinating article by Mary's husband Jim Handy about the history of land grants in the valley and early surveys that includes the Mt. Diablo Meridian that is Los Gatos' eastern boundary.

PopeHandy.com is also a realty site, with tips for buyers and sellers and information about the various communities in Mary's territory. Her description of Los Gatos is detailed and authoritative. This site can also be reached as DelightHomes.com.

Get the Best Deal When Selling Your Home In Silicon Valley, $18.95, by Mary Pope-Handy and Ken Deshaies, is available from Amazon.com

Silicon Valley Senior's Guide.com reflects Mary's Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation.

Belwood of Los Gatos.com is dedicated to the Belwood, Belgatos, and Surmount neighborhoods at the east end of Los Gatos. There is an e-mail list and new residents are encouraged to register with the site.

Mary has received a long list of awards, putting her in the top 5-10% of realtors countywide, and she has earned many titles as a result of classes and seminars. She is most proud to be a Certified Residential Specialist, a designation held by fewer that 4% of all Realtors. She is also ABR, ASP, E-Pro, RECS, SRES, and CNHS--her online resume explains it all. She is an expert at cyberspace realty, new homes, staging, seniors, and one other thing.

Mary's interest in haunted houses led her to start Haunted Real Estate.com, a guide to buying and selling haunted places that includes some spooky stories about specific Los Gatos sites.

Mary Pope-Handy is a Realtor with Intero Real Estate Services at 518 North Santa Cruz. Her mother, Pat Pope, was a successful valley realtor 1956-1996. Mary and her husband Jim are raising their two children in Los Gatos.

"It's my belief that the best way to grow my business is one extremely happy client at a time," Mary explains in her video, but it seems that providing fresh, useful information on the web is another tactic in her strategy.

Thank you so much for this surprising and generous review! Most of my clients are repeat and referral, but in recent years I've also had an increasing amount of clientele find me from the internet. That number is now 30-40%.

I'm growing the web portion of my business and in the last few months expanded into blogging. Active Rain (see www.ActiveRain.com), a real estate social networking community, together with Inman News is sponsoring a realty blogging contest and I'm involved in that, too - Project Blogger (see http://activerain.com/blogsview/56574/Project-Blogger). Twelve sets of contestants, one mentor and one apprentice, work on the apprentice's blog over 14 weeks (April 9 - July 15). I was very honored when Frances Flynn Thorsen (www.TheRealtyGram.com) invited me to be her apprentice for this event. (And so far we're doing well. For the initial week, we took first place.)

With Fran's help, I hope to make my blog, www.LiveInLosGatos.com, a worthwhile resource for the town. I'm a raving fan of Los Gatos and it's fun to share stories, photos, events, issues and enthusiasm. I would welcome input on topics/posts as well as other suggestions and/or ideas too (formating or?) from the townsfolk and other well-intentioned people.

Thank you again for the many kind words. I deeply appreciate the article and hope to help showcase Los Gatos with my content on the websites, and above all, on LiveInLosGatos.com. The contest should bring a little attention to our beautiful hometown.

Sincerely,
Mary

PS I'm also working on a site for folks relocating to Silicon Valley - still a little rough but it's coming along! www.Move2SiliconValley.com :)

I met Mary a couple of years ago when she agreed to co-author my book for selling homes in the Silicon Valley market. She has proven to be a most trustworthy and dedicated friend and confidant. These are attributes that she brings to the table when working with her clients, along with several others that keep her well above the tide of mediocrity in this profession. What a great lady!
