Distinguished present-day Los Gatans will again portray characters from Los Gatos history in director Carol Long Gruetzner's A Walk In and Out of the Past. Tours will leave the Los Gatos Art Museum, corner of Tait Ave. and W. Main St., at 1:00, 1:15, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 27. Gruetzner originated this unusual combination of history, a pleasant walk around town, and amateur dramatics.
Returning favorites include Planning Commission chair, council candidate, and semi-professional thespian D. Michael Kane as 19th-century Los Gatan Mountain Charlie; Linda Dydo as stage driver Charley Parkhurst; Craig Parks as James Kennedy; Mary Tomasi-Dubois as Flora Ford; Sandy Decker as Chief Umunhum; and Planning Commissioner Joanne Talesfore as schoolteacher Louise Van Meter. There have been casting changes, but not many. New characters this year include original rancho grantees Jose Hernandez and Sebastian Peralta.

Larry Arzie, new to the troupe, will portray Jose Hernandez. Other thespians scheduled to appear include: Gil Decker, Paul Dubois, Laura Bajuk, Barry Bakken, Luke Williams, and Leonard Pacheco. Sarah Parks, Dan Turkus and Vice Mayor Mike Wasserman will serve as docents.
The restored 1930 Model A Ford shown here belongs to Alfie Gerhardt, who attended Louise Van Meter Elementary School. Miss Van Meter daringly drove her own Model A around town in the 1930s.

Tickets are $25.00. Museum members receive a 10% discount. Visa and Master Card are accepted, and reservations are strongly encouraged. All proceeds will benefit The Museums of Los Gatos. For tickets, call (408) 354-1547.
Meet the actors at a Forbes Mill reception Thursday, July 24 at 5 p.m. Old-fashioned libations will be served.
