Los Gatos History Walk Returns 5/6

"A walk in and out of the past"

Last year's successful History Walk returns for a single day only this year on Sun., May 6, with performances at 1:00, 1:15, and 1:30. As before, tour groups depart from the Tait Museum on Tait at W. Main St.

Few knew what to expect last year, but the cast (and presumably the perfectly-researched script by director Carol Gruetzner) has not changed much. Characters from Los Gatos' history--portrayed by characters from its present, such as Planning Commissioner D. Michael Kane as Mountain Charley--populate the town once more.

Tickets are $25, with a 10% discount for Museum members, and Visa and Mastercard are accepted.

James Kennedy, played by Craig Parks (left) and docent Dan Turkus (right) lead an audience toward the Toll House.

Apparently, the Coggeshall Mansion (the former Charthouse restaurant) is not on the tour this year. Likewise, Mr. Beckwith, but the flyer hints at a mysterious Chief Umunhum. Favorites John Bean, Flora Ford, James Kennedy, Mountain Charley, and Louise Van Meter are set to return.

Planning Commission chairperson Joanne Talesfore, as schoolteacher Louise Van Meter, waits at Old Town, the site of her schoolroom.

Last year's presentation was fortunate to have sunny weather just before Halloween. Moving the date up to May should improve the chances of a beautiful day even more.
