Vintners Fest Features Santa Cruz Mountain Wines

Saturday and Sunday, one of the biggest wine events of the season comes to town as weekend two of the annual Vintners Fest, sponsored by the Santa Cruz Mountain Winegrowers Association, focuses on the east slope of the range. This year, 34 wineries are participating at 20 locations from Gilroy to La Honda. Much of the fun will take place in Los Gatos.

Once upon a time, the Great Race was all about competition between the towns of Los Gatos and Saratoga. In order to participate, runners had to prove that they lived or worked in one of the two bergs (or neighboring Monte Sereno). This Sunday is the 32nd annual Great Race from Saratoga to Los Gatos, which is now a legendary free-for-all.

• Environmental review for the new library. After five years of planning and public meetings, the Council tonight is asked to approve a contract for just over $100,000 for an environmental consultant. The Town has set up a good FAQ on the library plan.
