Purchase of the local luxury car dealership Silicon Valley Auto Group (SVAG) by the San Francisco-based Qvale Auto Group (QAG) was completed Wednesday, consummated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Main Street showroom. Poised with scissors in hand were Kjell Qvale, the 90-year-old founder of the family-owned business, and Mayor Diane McNutt. Town Manager Greg Larson and several members of the Town Council stood beside them holding the ribbon, waiting for cameras to be ready.

Ninety days was the theme of this ceremony on Friday afternoon. Ninety days to change from Community Hospital of Los Gatos to El Camino Hospital Los Gatos, ninety days to staff a hospital, and ninety days to reopen for the community. This ribbon-cutting ceremony represents a promise kept to this community, said Ken Graham, CEO of El Camino Hospital. And here we are just 90 days later.

Town Council Approves Controversial Building

Last nights town council meeting brought out quite the crowd. About a dozen people came by to speak about about a proposed building on 15400 Los Gatos Boulevard. While most came to air their displeasure at the new building, and voiced concerns about how it would increase traffic, cause safety issues and possibly block views, a few came to support the project and its design.

Kinch and his competition sous chefs James Syhabout and John Paul Carmona took the event very seriously and practiced for weeks after service ended at Manresa in timed cooking trials. So when the day in Kitchen Stadium finally came (which happened to be last June) for me the battle was over before it started. While Kinch called the event nerve wracking, he and his crew absolutely slaughtered the flatfooted Flay. OK, I’ll say it: they flayed him.

El Camino Accelerates Hospital Plans

Ken Graham, CEO of El Camino Hospital, brought some good news to the Los Gatos Town Council meeting Monday night. He reported that instead of acquiring Community Hospital of Los Gatos in June, as planned, El Camino will be acquiring the hospital on April 11. That means Community will be closing temporarily on April 10, and re- opening in mid-July, almost eight weeks earlier than previously thought.
