A disaster drill is being held on Saturday, Sept. 19, by the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) from 8am to 1pm in Los Gatos. Campbell and Saratoga teams will be participating as well.

More than 600 residents of Los Gatos, Campbell, Saratoga and Monte Sereno have completed CERT training, which prepares them to respond to disasters and help their families and communities. Follow-up exercises and training insure residents are ready to deal with any disaster.

The leaders of local CERT are collaborating to present a joint training drill, the WestCERT drill, at the Los Gatos Civic Center on 110 N. Main Street. The communities collaborate because if a disaster does strike assistance will be needed from surrounding communities.

Participants will receive a briefing in the morning and then break into teams. The teams will work through a series of disaster scenarios in and around the Civic Center. The day will end with a debriefing.

For more information, contact the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno CERT office at (408) 399-5722.
