1. What kind of work do you do?
Ive been a public relations/marketing communications consultant since 1982. Ive worked with all types of businesses through the years high tech, low tech, no tech and now focus on nonprofit organizations and public agencies.
2. If you weren’t doing that, what would you do?
Id be a great ghost-writer for CEOs and celebrities who want to author an autobiography or nonfiction book but dont know how to write what it is they want to say. Ive ghosted two books and more than 300 articles already, but would love to be on a bestseller list where my name is the one in tiny type on the bottom of the cover.
3. What do you do when youre not working?
Town Council duties primarily. Minimum of 15-20 hours a week, sometimes 25-40 hours a week on top of my day job.
4. When did you come to Los Gatos, and what brought you here?
I moved to Los Gatos in 1972, but because my Great Aunt Maude and Uncle Charlie lived here, we visited Los Gatos every Sunday while I was growing up. He was a barber and beekeeper and she worked in a pie shop on North Santa Cruz. So, I feel like Ive always been part of the Los Gatos community even if my early years were in Willow Glen.
5. In which part of town do you live, and what do you like about it?
We live off of East Main. Its a perfect location because its walking distance to the library and downtown, but also surrounded by trees and hills. We have a lot of wildlife stories even though were only five houses away from Main Street.
6. What’s your favorite spot in Los Gatos?
Its got to be the reading chair on our patio. I love listening to the windchimes in the trees and watching the birds, especially our favorite hummingbird. We call him Jasper. My second favorite spot is on Highway 17 right about at the Lark exit when you first begin to see the Town nestled into the base of the hillsides. By the time youre driving past Vasona, Im convinced the air starts to smell sweeter.
7. Which Los Gatans do you like to talk to regularly, and why?
Personal friends the most (including Facebook friends), followed by people involved in civic activities, and parishioners at St. Marys.
8. Which Los Gatos business do you patronize most frequently?
My husband and I have dinner every Friday night at Aldos, usually with different friends each week. We still havent tried everything on the menu and love the warm, inviting atmosphere that welcomes families, casual diners, special occasion celebrations and everything in between.
9. What have you discovered about this town that hardly anyone knows about?
Even after 37 years of living here, I am constantly finding new vistas and neighborhoods to appreciate. Los Gatos may only be 14 square miles, but every street is unique and has a distinctive personality. Sometimes just walking on the other side of the street presents a new view I havent noticed before.
10. If you could change anything about Los Gatos, what would it be?
I wish more residents were involved with town government. We have some of the best and brightest of Silicon Valley as our residents and I would love to tap into their experience and creativity to find more innovative and cost effective ways to provide services to our community. Social media may be the technology tools that will help engage them.
