Marcia Jean Newhall, a longtime Los Gatos resident, died June 13, 2009 at the age of 69.
Raised in Palo Alto, Newhall lived in the Santa Cruz Mountains for almost 50 years, most recently at Redwood Estates.
She attended UC Berkeley before marrying Donald E. Newhall in 1960. Newhall worked as a nurse’s aide at Los Gatos Meadows senior living community for over 30 years, before retiring two years ago.
A fervent reader, she loved mysteries and excelled at crossword puzzles. Newhall was also a fan of local musical theater, attending many productions at the San Jose Repertory Theatre and Cabrillo Stage. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in San Jose.
Newhall is survived by her husband of 49 years Donald E. Newhall, her son Robert Newhall of Lompico, Bruce Newhall of Capitola and Thomas Newhall of Scotts Valley, brother Richard Brinton of Salinas as well as two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five nieces, and one nephew.
Her family did not hold funeral services, but chose to scatter her ashes at sea.
