As a team, they won the Central Coast Section Division II baseball championship. Now come the personal accolades.

Kevin Corey was named the Senior of the Year by the San Jose Mercury-News as well as first-team All-CCS, and teammates Colin Chapman and Travis Bonner were also named to the All-CCS first team by the Mercury-News.

Corey, a standout pitcher and shortstop, pitched the CCS championship victory over Sobrato. The Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo-bound senior had 51 hits with a .455 batting average and a school-record 39 RBIs. As a pitcher, he was 12-2.

Bonner was an outstanding catcher all year for the Wildcats with a cannon of an arm. He picked off one runner and threw out another attempting to steal in the CCS championship game. Bonner hit .410 on the season with 41 hits, 29 runs, 14 doubles four home runs, and 30 RBIs.

Chapman also had an outstanding senior year, playing a solid third base and rapping out 51 hits on the way to a .481 batting average. He had five triples, five home runs, 30 RBIs and an .882 slugging percentage. He also stole 16 bases.

The Los Gatos trio also garnered first-team All-SCVAL De Anza Division honors, with Corey named the league MVP. Also named to the first team all-SCVAL team were junior outfielder/pitcher Jason Shepardson and senior pitcher Nate Aguiar. Earning second-team all-league honors were senior outfielder Ryan McGee and sophomore infielder Tyler Olivet.

Softball All-League Honors
It has been a while since Los Gatos has earned any CCS-level recognition in softball, but coach Al Pezino is hoping that is starting to change. Two Wildcats — sophomore pitcher Sara Van Belleghem and junior shortstop Allison Heyman — were recognized by the Mercury-News as Honorable Mention All-CCS players.

Heyman, Van Belleghem and outfielder Keri Corey, younger sister of Kevin, were also named first-team All-SCVAL.

Corey, a sophomore slap hitter, batted .353 with 30 hits and 13 runs scored, Heyman hit .374 with 34 hits, 15 RBIs, 14 runs and 10 stolen bases. Van Belleghem had a 9-8 record with a 1.13 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 92 innings.

Earning second-team all-league was junior Casey Showalter, who batted .266 with 21 hits, seven of which were extra-base hits. She played a very solid third base all year. Also named to the second team was sophomore catcher Sammi Ridgway, who led the team with 20 RBI and eight extra-base hits.

Earning Honorable Mention all-league were sophomore outfielder/catcher Molly Maciercz, senior outfielder Sydney Denues and sophomore pitcher Kelsey Shain.
