Enrico “Tony” Armando Motroni, a longtime Los Gatos resident and PG&E employee, died April 27, 2008 at the age of 85 after battling bone cancer.

Motroni was born in San Francisco in 1922 and moved with his family to Los Gatos at the age of 1. Growing up in house on Monterey Avenue, Motroni attended the University Avenue School. He went to Los Gatos High School, but left before graduating in 1941 to join the United States Navy in WWII. He served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Bouganville for six years.

After being honorably discharged in 1947, Motroni moved back to Los Gatos. For 39 years he worked as a public business exchange installer for Pacific Telephone, which later become PG&E.  Motroni also served as a reserve officer for the Los Gatos Police Department for 10 years, from 1970-1980.

After retiring, Motroni was heavily involved in the Los Gatos Elks Lodge for over two decades, where he was voted Exalted Ruler from 1990-1991. He moved to Southern California several years ago, where he passed.

Motroni is survived by his daughter Gina Motroni, his son Daniel Motroni, his daughter-in-law Chris Motroni, and his four grandchildren, Daniel Jr., Derrick, Jill and Dylan Motroni.

His son Daniel, who lives in Vancouver, Washington, found out about his father’s death just this week, and requested for this belated obituary to run on Los Gatos Observer. For more information, contact Daniel at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
